DJ is such a important role of dance music since 1906. Unfortunately most of the DJ don't have a chance to manipulate music with gestures because DJ electronic instrument are mostly just knobs and buttons. This is the first reason I want to create a DJ musical interface which is not "weird machine on table".
In DJ show, audience enjoy the music that DJ plays, but hardly can understand how DJ manipulate music. All the things we can see is he's busy on stage, touching buttons, knobs and something we don't know. "What is he doing there?" I wonder if I can create a gestures control interface to let DJ play music with it, and visualize how DJ play music by showing people the gestures.
With Groovy Hand, the new musical instrument, DJ can easily manipulate songs with gestures, therefore audience can easily understand what DJ is doing on the stage. Also, the audience feedback sound is highly used in [Groovy Hand] to create interactive performance. |
